I ended up putting this album in my last post, talking about albums I was anticipating in September. This may have been the one I was most looking forward to. It's been 3 years since Adventurer has put out their own release. They split an EP with Wolf&Bear in 2016, another amazing band. So once they announced this release, I was definitely hyped.

Starting off this album, one of the best album openers I've heard, Oil Ocean is two and a half minutes of pure emotion. The groovy beginning and ending with a powerful chorus in between just really kicks off the album. Next track on the album, Broke, is the second single. It was really just a breath of fresh air to hear them retain their sound after this song. This song has a pop punk feel to it but the instrumentals keep it under post hardcore. After Watermelon&Rum, is the first single, Caught Up in a Lie. This song might be my favorite from the album. It shows how much Adventurer has grown since their self titled release. Right out of the gate, the song just hits hard and screams "We are back". Turning Back the Clock is one of the more screamy songs on the album, which adds variety. While the whole albums is more tame than usual, its definitely a song that old fans expect.

After a relaxing interlude, Cold Blooded really sounds like an old Adventurer song. Something about the instrumentals and song structure. Which is great that they can still work around their old sound and evolve as a band as well. Which is one of the things that made me most proud of them with this album. Wolf Dr. starts off as another pop punk like song. A decent song, nothing real special but I still enjoyed it. It does really prepare you for the last track of the album though. Fans of Adventurer should remember the last song, Galaxy God. Re-released from their split EP, I praise the move to put this on here heavily. One of two songs from their split EP to bridge this album and the last, in my opinion one of their strongest releases. Perfect blend of cleans and screams. They couldn't have ended the album in a better way.

In conclusion, this was one of my favorite albums of the year, you should definitely check it out and buy the album. It was everything I could've hoped from them.
